Rest is just as important as progress to achieve success

Hey ya’ll! It’s been a minute, but I’m back! It’s been a busy and crazy set of months. I hope that everyone is well and is staying safe during the quarantine and with everything going on with COVID-19. It’s definitely been an unprecedented time with everything going on, but even with all the loss that many have experienced as a result it can still be a time of reflection, reset, and revamping how we do life in general. This time has really shown us what’s truly important to us and how vital rest on both an emotional, mental, and physical as well as spiritual level are to our overall well-being.

Rest is far from being in a state of stagnancy or inactivity, rather a time to examine whether we are focused on being as much as we are doing. In fact, it is in the being that we are truly able to activate and resonate with the truth of what we are actually PURPOSED to be DOING instead of doing for doing’s sake. It is in our quiet moments, our rest and recovery periods, we begin to realize that that we’ve been doing for the purpose of others that offers no fulfillment and how we can be of better service to ourselves and others, what depletes us, what energizes us, what warms our hearts, what breathes new life into us, and even discover the next great thing that will propel us to the next level of success.

When we get into the habit of just doing for doing sake, we are out of alignment not only within ourselves and with our connection to others but also to divine alignment that we were created for. As much as doing is great, it is often underrated how much rest is the batteries in our clock that make things tick that allow us to progress to success, thus one cannot exist without the other. Rest allows us to connect our being and doing in a purposeful and passionate way. Being allows us to be guided by our true north, character, integrity and what is ultimately right for us. Being connects our hearts to our head so that our decisions are not mechanical and out of touch and effective to affect those that the results are meant to reach. Being keeps us holistically healthy, because we begin to feel when things are not right on every level and can pivot to correct and realign. Being keeps us connected to humanity because it reminds us of our own fragility but also interconnectedness to the next person. Being allows us to show up present and offer our best to the world without being burnt out, on autopilot, or without intention. In our rest periods we get to understand the purpose behind our doing and what vision is best to build that, our doing just guides those actions into reality. May we never lose touch with that, and in those times you feel as though rest must take a backseat to progress and success, remind yourself that rest is the engine to drive your personal life vehicle to success?

What does rest look like though? It could be a variety of things based off what speaks to your soul and guides your heart but here are a few ways to offer rest to your mind, heart, body, and soul:

  1. Meditation
  2. Journaling
  3. Listening to  soothing music
  4. Dancing to inspiring, upbeat, or uplifting music
  5. Aromatherapy or burning candles and just enjoying relaxation
  6. Often underrated : SILENCE
  7. Sipping your favorite beverage from your favorite cup
  8. Painting, crafts, pottery and anything where you can pour all your heart and soul into a creative energy without a certain expectation or outcome
  9. Coloring or drawing
  10. Writing
  11. Self care (whatever that looks like)
  12. Reading a great book and truly getting lost in it
  13. Redecorating or making your living space comfortable and conducive to you and your peace and joy
  14. Spiritual practices that bring you closer to center and clarity
  15. Sleep or naps that allow you to feel rested
  16. Periods of time away (whether a vacation or staycation) that allow you to relax and unwind as well as reflect on the simplicity and goodness of life

These are just a few to get you started but whatever makes you peaceful and centered and allows you clarity and joy is something that should regularly be infused into the fabric of your life and daily or regular routines.

What are some ways you’ve found to rest during the quarantine? What does rest look like to you? Do you find that you’ve had to teach yourself how to have rest within? Leave me a question or note in the comments, I love to hear from you all and thank you so much as always to each of you that have come on this journey with me.

Why your past is purposeful and preparatory for your path

Hey ya’ll! Whew when I say this year flew in and flew out, it really did! I can’t believe we are a mere few days from a new year and decade! I’m super excited! With the end of one year and decade and standing on the cusp of the next, it’s often a time we use for reflection and intention setting but often times we use this time to ponder on loss or regret. While those are normal human emotions and reactions, our past is a wonderful tapestry on the quilt of the fabric of our lives we are weaving daily,  that propels us to the next moment,  and ultimately our destiny. Let’s dig a little bit deeper and really delve into why our past is purposeful for our path and how we can use it to be powerful in the present and fearless facing the future.

When evaluating the past (speaking from personal experience) it’s easy to deeply romanticize our past based off our current vantage point or to examine all the ways that life would be different if different decision or set of decisions were made. While introspection and reflection are useful and beautiful tools, it’s often wasteful to continue ruminating on things that ultimately  cannot be changed without planning intentionally and thoughtfully on how the effects of those decisions can STILL BE USED to craft a purposeful, beautiful, and powerful life in the present and future. Also consider the wisdom and perspective you’ve gained are amazing tools, to not only assist you on your journey, but to empower and impact others.

Often life’s most profound and greatest lessons are found in what I like to believe are the trial and trust ( trial and error is programming stating that there is a right or wrong way to get through life or life’s journey with a desired outcome) process. I say trial and trust because when something is tried it either reveals that is something that’s for you or not for you and there is beauty in that. The path to your most divinely aligned life is all about trusting your own process and learning to be intuitive to listen to your own voice and desires that assists you in crafting that vision that is perfectly aligned even if the road has its twists and turns and different expected outcomes.

The beautiful part of a journey isn’t the destination, it’s the wholeness of who you become by the time you get there and tools, wisdom, and insight you obtain to sustain the continuous path to greatness. Also, consider that every moment is carefully crafted (both pleasurable and not so pleasurable) and paves the way for your next step and often even the steps that lead into the steps after that. When I examine my own life and my life trajectory even up to this very moment, I realize that there has not been a SINGLE step or place in time (even when I couldn’t fathom the great unfolding) that has been wasted by God and the Universe to shape me into the person I am today,  and where I am headed in the future. I am constantly reminded everywhere I look that in time God makes everything beautiful and that’s not just a cliche saying it’s reality.

Consider the ghosts of your past as gifts to your present and future, and don’t allow them to haunt you. Instead make peace with them and allow them to be what inspires you in your future and gives you power in your present. Don’t stay stuck in your past unable to move ahead. Look back at the past only as a reminder of how far you’ve grown and with gratitude and hope of what lies ahead. Be thankful that you’re not the same and for the wisdom and gifts you’ve gained to share with others who might benefit from your change.

Yes, you faced some challenges in your past. But are you really going to allow your past to rob you of your power or will you stand and own your power in the present, moment by moment until it leads to your  desired future? Let go of regret and see your past as the opportunity to consistently press reset on a version of yourself and your life that doesn’t serve you in your present or future reality. See the purpose in your past, allow it to propel you with grace and confidence into your present, and live fruitfully and abundantly in your future.

Are there things you still hold onto from your past? Do you feel blocked because of your past? What would serve you well to let go of? What are some things you’ve overcome from your past that are helpful or beneficial to you currently and as you make preparations for the future? Let me know in the comments! I truly can’t say enough that I love and appreciate the support and I love hearing from you guys!

Manifestation is Momentum

Hi Guys! Whew, we are already in August and that’s crazy to me because I remember when the year first started. This year has been crazy and so full of growth and amazing blessings. I’ve missed you guys so much and I cannot say this enough, thank you to all of you who decided to join me on this journey, your support means more than you know!

I literally manifested this blog among other bountiful blessings in my life and this is the perfect segue to today’s blog topic: Manifestation is Momentum. One thing I’ve really learned on my spiritual journey and in life  is that as long as you keep moving and keep yourself going that you’re always going to be on the path of exactly where you need to be. You’re always on time because God and the Universe show up and align events, people, resources, knowledge, faith, confidence, clarity and peace to push you to the next level of where you need to be to accomplish your life’s purpose. Yes, you will need to rest at times and that’s nothing to feel bad about or beat yourself up about. But even in your rest periods you’re still manifesting,  because there are things at work that you cannot even see and or fathom and growth that occurs in the background necessary to propel you the next level. Allow yourself to rest because much like a good workout your muscles repair themselves and you come back re-energized, rejuvenated, and refreshed ready to accomplish what’s next. This rest period is also vital because you receive so much clarity and peace in these moments that help catapult the vision that you have planned for yourself.

Manifestation is Momentum

What does momentum look like exactly in the midst of a manifestation process? Whatever you need it to look like! Whether its writing down your plans and goals in a journal, meditation, exercise, individual practices of self care, research on how to grow your passion project or business, spending time with people who are knowledgeable in the area you wish to grow in, reading books or materials to expand your mind or worldview, putting away money in a savings account for a goal you’ve been working to reach, creating a task list and the space and time to accomplish the things you desire, etc. Whatever it takes to reach that goal that you’re trying to reach, as long as you keep at it and are taking steps (whether big or small) to get you one step closer to the finished product. Your belief in your vision is the fuel that you need to further your momentum to reach that momentum.

At times, during your pre-manifestation periods you may have to quiet yourself and go internally and seek answers from Divine Spirit. Trust that this is also apart of the process and is connected to things that were birthed in you to keep your fire lit, your spirit alive and your heart full. As the old saying goes “The same day you plant the seed is not the same day you eat the fruit”. With that in mind, don’t dig up the seed, keep the faith, maintain a sharp focus of your vision, and prepare for the beautiful bloom that will soon burst forth as a result of watering, care, and most of FAITH and PATIENCE in your process.

Are you in the middle of a manifestation process? What does it feel like? What are some lessons you’ve learned? What are you looking forward to manifesting? What beautiful things have already been birthed as a result of your process? Let me know in the comments! I love to hear from you guys!

Why You Were Born to Sparkle and Shine

Hey Guys! Happy 17th day of February and I hope whether you celebrated Galentines, Valentines, some other mix of the two, or skipped both and jumped right into NBA All Star weekend, that your February is off to a great start. I was thinking about how often we walk through life and people,  the media, messaging, or some other source delivers to us how we are too much of something. Not too long ago, a guy I was dating told me I was a handful (I would like to add that I considered it a compliment  and was glad that I was staying true to myself of having a lot to give and overflowing although I am certain that he didn’t intend for me to take that message and find the positivity in it.) But why is an excess of something considered an awesome thing except when we speak about other people?

Sparkle and Shine

No one complains they have too much money, food, happiness, or comfort. In fact, we as human beings are constantly striving for more in terms of the goals that we set out to complete or the lifestyle or life we envision. Why then do we allow ourselves to be compacted and shrunken by the expectations, fears, feelings, and opinions of others? Why do we attempt to take ourselves down a notch to be palatable to the world or to feel that the only way that we can fully be accepted is to show up as a lesser version of ourselves?  I am here to tell you from the day you were divinely created and purposed you were supposed to show up, show out, shine and sparkle.

Sparkle and Shine

I personally believe that every time you shrink yourself you miss out on the chance to impact the world in the way you were created. Light, shine, and sparkle all have unique characteristics. But the one thing that they all have in common is that they stand out and lead the way, offer perspective to an otherwise dim environment, and most importantly bring JOY and SMILES and allow others that are receptive to it to feel a little warmth and specialness to each day. There is truly no more honorable or fantastic way to show up in the world other than being your most authentic and audacious self. When others see you walking in your truth, they  feel free to walk in their own truth and that’s a wonderful and freeing feeling. The world doesn’t become better by you playing small.

Sparkle and Shine

People need big love, ideas, extraordinary and over the top personalities, loud and crazy laughs, big smiles, big hearts, people who know how to have big fun and be bold but also the humility to understand that everyone needs someone willing to RISK it all and show others that being extra is just simply being unapologetically in touch as a human being navigating this wildly crazy, but fun and meaningful ride we call life. Yes, everyone may not appreciate the luster that your sparkle is supposed to emit and the shine that you have to reach those that TRULY NEED and are BLESSED by your presence but SHINE ON!  The next time you find yourself or someone/something dulling your sparkle keep in mind, Tiffany’s has been in business for almost 200 years. The brand continues to attract new customers daily and never stops improving and stays committed to the process of providing the world’s most brilliant  and quality diamonds, why is your inner sparkle and shine any different? Dare to be different, blaze a trail,  be your most fierce and fabulous self, the world needs your genius, brilliance, sparkle and shine.

You are the Opportunity

Hi everyone! Hope that 2019 is treating you well and you’re well on your way to accomplishing the goals you’ve set for yourself. With that in mind, I wanted to talk about opportunity, more specifically the fact that you are the very opportunity you are seeking to create and manifest.

You are the Opportunity

When we think about the new year or actions of creating and implementing/attaining a goal, it is usually associated with a dream or vision of the perfect opportunity that will drastically change our lives. But what if the change that we are seeking is already within us? What if that radical difference that we are looking for is something we already have that lays dormant in us ready to be activated and utilized? You are the very opportunity you are looking for  and how to activate your power and walk in your purpose.

You are the Opportunity

I know you’re probably wondering how you could ever have enough or be enough to be a full opportunity but that’s just it, it ALL STARTS with YOU. You have to believe that intrinsically EVERYTHING that you are is already enough to attract EACH and EVERY opportunity that you want to manifest.

Do you want an amazing relationship? Then work on recognizing that you deserve it and raise your level of expectation to only GIVE YOURSELF the BEST first and then by default you will give off an energy/vibe that tells others that you will ONLY RECEIVE THE BEST.

You are the Opportunity

Looking to manifest a better career that you love? Do the work to be more than just an employee and become a valued added contributor. Put passion and love into everything you do, that soon will become your brand and one day you maybe able to parlay that into having your employer be your employee and contract/consult your skills and expertise out as you continue to expand your skill set.

Are you itching to start that jewelry, cosmetics, t-shirt, cup, or other company but unsure where to start? Wanting to write that blog or book but afraid to start? Wanting to share your story and truly change the lives of others but afraid of judgment or your past being used against you? Push those negative thoughts of fear, failure, and other people’s perceptions out of your conscious and subconscious mind and go after your purpose and destiny. It’s been put in your heart for a reason, so jump to it!

You are the Opportunity

Don’t create additional obstacles to talk you out of your own success! Be your biggest fan, show up for yourself, BE OPEN to new experiences that STRETCH AND GROW YOU, and the universe/ God will reward you tenfold. Don’t ever feel like that anything you don’t have or “lost” in a physical sense won’t be replaced by something much greater than you could ever imagine. There is never an opportunity that you miss when you realize you’re a walking, talking, breathing opportunity. One of my favorite affirmations is ” I already have everything I need to get everything I want.” How powerful is that? Wake up with that kind of resolve and purpose and I promise you every opportunity will find its way to the REAL OPPORTUNITY. YOU.

How spiritual obedience is the key to your “manifest destiny” and higher self

obedience and faith

So lately God has been dealing with me about spiritual obedience and how it basically is the key to  the abundant life that God has promised . Imagine that faith is the gatekeeper to an enhanced relationship with God. Well guess what? To access what lies beyond that gate it takes a yielded obedience to get that key in the lock and the door to open to what God has in store for you next. This is by no means endorsing the idea of a works based faith because honestly there will never be enough that anyone could truly do enough to “earn God”, get ” Christian brownie points”,  or any of those sorts of philosophies or ideals that have been created to paint Christianity as a faith for those that are perfect, or have “arrived” per se. The key to our salvation indeed comes by God’s gift to us through Jesus Christ and redemption of our sins. (Ephesians 2:8)

Rather what I mean is that before God ever breathed life into our forms he envisioned an amazing life for us complete with all the plans we were to carry out and the lives we were supposed to touch. Does this mean we won’t encounter troubles or trials? Far from it my loves. (John 16:33) Our very own Prince of Peace encountered and suffered many trials but gained victory over all of them  in the end. But our posture, focus, countenance and attitude towards those things will be different and we will be the light in a dark world that our Father has commissioned us to be. (Matthew 5:14-16)  And in spite of all that if we remain yielded to the Father ready to do his will and honor HIM in whatever ways that we can, he blesses that.

I believe there is a misconstrued vision of how beautiful obedience is. Obedience isn’t God barking orders at you, with the expectation that you will fulfill. God is quite the gentleman and gives you the free will to say no or choose a different route at any time. However,  I think that each time we yield to the Lord and give up another area of our lives bit by bit, he enables us to walk more into the calling he has over our lives because we are trusting in HIM completely and not in ourselves and truly activating our faith walk. We give up the control we feel we need to craft the life we desire and allow the perfect CREATOR to assist us with the masterpiece that blows our little imaginations out of the water.  When we give over to God the cares, concerns, and beliefs of what we feel our lives should look like he honors that. Because we are believing that the TRUE LIFE we find in Christ is our real life anyway. (Matthew 10:39)

I am learning that obedience and faith go hand in hand and you truly cannot have one without the other. You may not always know what’s up ahead, it may not make sense to you, you may feel FEAR, DOUBT, AND UNCERTAINTY in your heart but never allow that to deter you from doing what God has called you to do . Even if you do turn away from the path of obedience, God is always there to find you and lead you back into his loving kindness and plans for you. But I’ve found in my faith walk, I desire God’s best for my life far more than I desire the best I can create. This is far from being a destination I reached over night and I still daily have to yield my will over to HIS. But each step in obedience leads me closer and closer to God’s presence and his wholeness, which far surpasses anything I can concoct on this Earth to fulfill a void reserved for HIM.

This mere blog and being consistent and open to HIS WILL is the ultimate test of obedience but I am trusting that there is something HE is doing in the PROCESS. I challenge you to yield yourself to HIS WILL, be obedient to the things He shares with you, step out on faith, and jump head first into HIS PLAN for your life.

Moses, Abraham, and Noah showed us profound examples of obedience and faith as REAL people with a charge from God. Imagine the beauty of what God may have in store for you and how many lives can be changed or led to salvation if you open your spirit, heart, and mind to the process of obedience, faith, trust, and the journey to getting to your manifest destiny and higher self.

Walking by Faith NOT Fear

WALKING BY FAITH NOT FEAR

The sinking pit in your stomach. The feeling that at any given moment it all could go wrong. The overanalyzing/overthinking, the calculation, recalculation and plans A-Z if 1, 2, or 3 were to happen. These are all common things that I must admit at various times I’ve experienced and struggled with. Stating with my mouth that I am going to believe but doing everything in the books to work against myself and my beliefs and what I was trusting God for.

fear
via Shades of Yoga.com

A constant spiritual and emotional battle fighting against feelings of inadequacy, doubt, hopelessness, insecurities, and in general paralysis that keeps you from moving forward into the best version of yourself and reaching those goals you’ve been longing to reach.

BUT…… What if we were to replace all those negative feelings with positive feelings, affirmation, and faith? What if you took a deep inventory and began to understand what prevents you from tapping into your higher calling and authority in God? What if instead of anticipating all the ways that you believed that you would fail you just walked into the victory of being confident, persistent, tenacious and focused? Don’t you realize there are people connected to your goals, vision, purpose, and life? I often sit and wonder for all those times I allowed fear to keep me from pursuing an opportunity or acting in alignment with my best self what calling from God did I miss? What opportunity to be a blessing or receive a blessing did I allow fear to steal from me? How could I have grown had I just stretched myself a little further outside of my comfort zone? Am I really going to let uncertainty rob me of the chance to go higher and reach new depths?

What I’ve learned and what God has been showing me over the past couple of months is faith has to BE ACTIVATED. It’s great to SAY you believe but that belief becomes real when you get the opportunity to doubt, worry, or just act in unbelief and you choose to believe that as Romans 8:28 tells us God works everything out for the good of those who love him and are called according to his purpose. NOTHING IS WASTED. No time period, experience, event, interaction is wasted. It’s all a part of your unique blueprint for the story that is being divinely created for the manifestation of your destiny and HIS glory.

You see fear is a natural human response but it shouldn’t stop you from pursuing the calling of God on your life nor keep you from enjoying life. 2 Timothy 1:7 tells us that God has not given us a spirit of power, love, and a sound mind. Thus, divinely to reach your highest potential you need to activate your power, walk and allow all your acts to radiate love and keep a clarity of mind about you despite what your feelings may be telling you or your eyes may be seeing. Faith isn’t logical, but neither are some of your biggest dreams and goals. Every day you are going to come to a cross roads, giving into your fears and staying stagnant or letting go and applying faith and expecting the best outcomes and doing the work internally, personally, professionally, romantically,  whatever capacity desired by working with God to reach them.

The beautiful thing that I have observed about children is that they know no fear. If they are fearful, it is only because it has been learned or told to them. Quick story: I was about 11 years old and was still playing with Barbies. Nickelodeon had this drawing for a Barbie and a Barbie tour bus. I entered into the contest expecting to win. I prayed about it (my parents always instilled the importance of a prayer life in me) and forgot about it. About a month later, what showed up on my door step but a Barbie and a Barbie tour bus. I didn’t obsess over it, I didn’t worry myself into a frenzy, I didn’t doubt, I just did the work, planted my seed of faith and believed the rest would work itself out on its own. I think thats definitely a vital lesson that can be emulated from children.

So I challenge you and myself today to continuously and unwaveringly  walk by FAITH, set your fears aside, do the work, and watch God work.

How do you do that? Well I am glad you asked.

  1. Commune with God about His will for your life.
  2. Meditate on the purpose and will and be open and obedient to how God may cause it to come to pass in your life. There is no formula, just a process of being obedient, faithful, faith filled, and a willing vessel.
  3. Guard your heart from anything that may cause distractions, unbelief, doubt or triggers that will cause you to be deterred from the work God is trying to do in you and through you.
  4. Be vigilant about protecting your faith because you are going to have opportunities for people, places, events, circumstances etc to poke holes in it or fill you with doubt.
  5. Be expectant for something AMAZING to happen that more than surpasses your expectations and blows your mind. Faith has a way of being chock full of opportunity for miracles and for God to show up, show out, and show his people and their doubters he is SUPER FAITHFUL and sovereign.
  6. Last but not least show gratitude for where you are going and respect your journey. Each step you make to walk by faith and every day that you wake up putting one foot in front of the other is a step in the right direction.

Never give up, never stop believing, don’t compare your journey to anyone else’s and never forget you are fearfully fashioned and treasured.

XOXOXO
